Our Philosophy:

Our approach to teaching and educating students, families and teachers is to look at the whole learner. We begin all of our relationships by taking a look at Gardner’s Theory of Multiple Intelligences. We believe, like Gardner, that, “reason, intelligence, logic, knowledge are not synonymous…” and that we must also consider the areas of music, spatial relations and interpersonal knowledge when assessing the intellect of an individual.  We do not believe that education should be a passive experience; instead The Whole Learner insists that each student, family and teacher be involved in establishing goals and objectives that reflect a realistic outcome. Additionally, our lessons are designed for students to take a hands-on approach to learning, so that lessons are not fleeting but rather lifelong memories. We value respect and believe it is the cornerstone to building a strong relationship where learning can take place. Most importantly, we teach how we wish we were taught!

Gardner’s Theory of Multiple Intelligences

Gardner's Eight Intelligences

  •  Logical-mathematical intelligence ("number/reasoning smart")

  •  Interpersonal intelligence ("people smart")

  •  Intrapersonal intelligence ("self smart")

  •  Bodily-Kinesthetic intelligence ("body smart")

  •  Spatial intelligence ("picture smart")

  •  Linguistic intelligence ("word smart"):

  •  Musical intelligence ("music smart")

  •  Naturalist intelligence ("nature smart")
